Registered standards – Registered standards

Registered Standards
SÜSBİR was founded 10 years ago in Turkey. Since then, it has been on the agenda to establish plant standards in technical specifications. For that, a commission set up about 3 years ago to study about ornamental plant standards. Experts, business owners and managers participated in the study. The Commission also examined the standards of American, British and European Nurserystock Association (ENA). ENA standards were preferred because it is the standard of European Union and Turkey mostly trades with Europe. Turkey has three registered standards at the moment. The standards are terminology (terms and definitions), measure-form-coding and naming. Furthermore, Turkey became the 21st country as a member of ENA. This will also be effective in the use of standards.

A commission formed three years ago initiated work on ornamental plant standards. Experts, business owners, and managers participated in the work. The commission also reviewed American, British, and European Nurserymen's Association (ENA) standards. ENA standards were chosen because they are European Union standards and facilitate trade with Europe. Currently, we have three registered standards: terminology (terms and definitions), size-form-coding, and naming. Furthermore, Turkey became the 21st member state of ENA, which will influence the use of these standards.
