In the most prestigious region of Italy…

The only Italian event supported by AIPH, the XIII Euroflora – International Landscape, Flower and Ornamental Plants Exhibition, has been completed. Approximately 200,000 visitors visited the fair in 11 days. 400 participants attended the fair, 154 gardens were created and 254 competitions were organized. The talks, conferences, competitions and flower design events held during the fair attracted great attention. Visitors had the opportunity to see Florida palms, acidophilous plants from Piedmont (Italy), cut flowers from Liguria and Campania (Italy), and intertwined azaleas. In addition, century-old olive trees from the Pistoia Region, carnivorous plant collections, succulents and bonsai were presented.  

Rivers of trees instead of asphalt…

Euroflora 2025 focused on biodiversity, sustainability, landscape architecture, research and technology. The fair provided an exemplary dialogue environment for plant breeders, researchers, scientific communicators and public administrators who see nature as an element of redevelopment for cities. For example, neuroscientist Stefano Mancuso’s “Fitopolis – City of Plants” conference, where he explained that our cities should abandon the asphalt % 20 and create rivers of trees instead. C40 Cities senior project manager Viola Follini, in her presentation of the Coldiretti – CNR research, touched on the beneficial effects of plants on people’s mental and physical health. The meeting with Mario Tozzi on climate change and the “Technical Tests of Extinction” caused by humans, and Federico Quaranta’s observations on contemporary society, his monologue “Respect”, which focuses on the “good life” against excessive consumerism and planned obsolescence, were all watched with interest.

The competitions organized during the fair were evaluated by a team of 155 people, including 105 Italian and foreign juries, 8 regional directors and 35 jury secretaries. 254 honorary, technical and aesthetic competitions were supported by 7 scientific committee members. The total prize money was over 150,000 euros. Special attention was paid to the “ARS Urbana” competition, which selected twelve projects created by landscape architects in the Kennedy District, as a blend of art, innovation and sustainability.
