The direction of the sector…

The conditions are suitable. The 4th Landscape Istanbul Fair should be the meeting point for sector members in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. Athena Fairs and manufacturers continue their preparations for 2025.

Trump-Europe-Middle East-Asia and us.

1-Ecopolitics is changing rapidly with Trump. Customs wars are raising and lowering the walls. Western sanctions imposed on some countries may also change. The general situation is also forcing sectoral predictions to change. Turkey may gain an advantage according to this flow. If it can maintain good relations with the countries in its hinterland, we are the most reasonable western country that sectoral companies and individuals can easily access. With this advantage, Istanbul will be the meeting point of sectoral members in European, Asian, Middle Eastern and North African countries. There is a fair organization that can achieve this and the 4th Landscape Istanbul Fair 2025 is continuing its preparations. Now, whatever is necessary for the 4th Landscape Istanbul in 2025 must be done.

 To briefly recall…

2-The Turkish Landscape and Ornamental Plants Sector had been revived since the second half of the 1980s with the opening of the country's market to the world and the acceleration of imports. It had also become visible with the Flower Show 2003-Yalova Ornamental Plants Fair in Yalova. Exports that started with cut flowers diversified towards tree and shrub species, and export figures rose from 30, 40, 45 to 70 million dollars, respectively.

Transition from hormonal growth to real…

3-The growth that started to fade from 2016-2017 was also the end of the “hormonal growth” period. The sector should have made a new domestic market design after the pandemic and drawn a new direction with a marketing target for production and export. Companies that determined their direction with their own planning were successful, albeit partially. The emergence of successful sector companies motivated export-oriented searches. In the meantime, contracting organizations that made designs and applications had a serious impact on exports. According to the data of the Ornamental Plants and Products Exporters' Association, it was 137.2 million dollars in 2022, 135,139 million dollars in 2023 and 141,065 million dollars in 2024. It is clear that this trend should continue.

After all, everyone knows what needs to be done…

4-Now, Türkiye's "Landscape and Ornamental Plants Sector" is promoting and marketing with a European-based fair, two local country exhibitions or fairs and an International Landscape Istanbul Fair. It is time for the sector to handle country and product promotion with an integrated marketing approach. Exports have been over 135 million dollars for the last three years. A strong voice based in Istanbul is essential to make a leap from here. And now, whatever is necessary for the 4th Landscape Istanbul must be done.
